As Promised...

In your copy of the latest newsletter we promised to present Chef Lisa's recipe for this incredibly luscious dessert. The recipe is from http://www.allrecipes.com/.

Country Apple Dumplings
Prep time: 20 minutes Servings: 16 dumplings
Bake time: 45 minutes Preheat over to 350 F.
Ingredients:
2 large baking apples (Granny Smith ex.) peeled and cored
2 cans crescent rolls
1 cup of butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 12 ounce can of clear soda (7-Up, Sprite, Mountain Dew, etc)
Cut the apples into 8 wedges each. Separate the dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in a triangle starting at the small end. Pinch the packet shut and place in a baking pan. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and stir in sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the dumplings. Pour the soda over the dumplings.
Bake for 34-45 minutes until golden brown.
They are delicious served warm with ice cream.

Lisa made the whole thing from paring to serving at the center with one helper. They were unforgettable!
Blogger will not let me post a picture of the dumplings but if you follow the link and look them up by name, you will find a picture that will make you drool.
In other news, the center will be open next week but we will not be serving meals. We will have groceries and clothing available as usual and there will be people there to answer questions during regular hours.
Stop in and have a look at the fall clothing that has started to come in.
